Happy birthday bubbe! I love you so much and I can’t believe you’re another year younger! You look better by the day! I can’t express how incredibly lucky I am to have you in my life. No one could ask for a better great grandma, I don’t know many other people who get to know how cool and funny there grandparents are. I’m so glad I get to have a great grandma who is silly, loving and oh so beautiful! I think about all of the jokes you make and send me and how when I was younger I got to come around your house all the time and we would go on walks to get cookies and playing kick the old lady. It’s rare in life to meet a lady so wonderful and I can’t believe I get to be one of those people. Bubbe I love you so ever much I want to thank you for always bringing an extra element of joy into my days whether from Turkeys stuffed with Lollypops too blowing up bounces castles and finding dead rats in them to getting to watch dating shows. I’m truly so grateful!

As I write this, it is the last time I’ll message you while you’re 89! Happy Birthday Bubbe. Can you believe how quickly time goes? But maybe it’s time to start counting time by some measure other than years, like, how many bowls of Matzo ball soup have we shared? (Hundreds) How many lovely beaded things have you made me? (Perhaps 40, or hundreds). How many chocolates have we shared (again, hundreds). How many Halloweens since we met? (More than 47 for sure). How many times going to Lunch? (not enough). How many games of “Kick the old Lady” with my kids and grandkids? (too many!)

My life is so much richer, complicated, and love filled because of you. Stick around for a while longer so we can think of some appropriate escapades for when you are ready to leave the porch.

I am so lucky to have you as my family. I love you so very much.

When I was around 13, I would send a picture of my daily bowel movement to Bubbe Helen, a tradition used in some cultures to show great deference to one’s elders.  Well one day Bubbe decided to return fire and send a picture back.  The only problem was that she accidentally sent it to my father.  I will never forget the horror in my dad’s voice as he announced, “Bubbe just sent me a picture of her shit.”

Bubbe, I have always admired your sense of humor, your playfulness, and (most of all) your photography skills.  Happy 90^th birthday!
